windscreen wiper help
« on: November 24, 2014, 05:29:50 pm »
Hi hope someone can help figure this out, I have a 2004 gt tdi golf.  Few months back i fitted depo headlamps and an aftermarket HID kit that I saw other forum members have used.  Always having switched the light off when starting.  This time it was raining when I started the car realised that that the lights had come on when I unlocked the car i turned them off.  The front wipers stopped halfway up the screen as soon as i turned the lights off and will no longer work at all now.

I have tried a different wiper motor on the front, disconnected the bonnet catch switch but nothing.  Checked all fuses and relays inside and engine bay.  The washers still function on the front and rear wiper still works. The auto lights still work as well if that is the same sensor as the rain sensor.

Is there anything else I could be missing I have vcds but no faults are showing for anything to do with this.  Car is due it's MOT now so I'm stuck.

Also is there a way to supply a 12v feed to see if wiper motor will work it could be I have bought a second hand duff wiper motor.
Thanks in advance

Aftermarket HID kits are known to burn wiper motors. You weren't lucky like some are that don't have problems, but it's frequent.

An OEM HID kit wouldn't give you this problem. I know it's expensive. :\

Remove the HID kit and get a new wiper motor.

Cheers

At least that kit must have burnt your wiper motor. I'd look for an OEM or other aftermarket kit that already proved not to give problems (or you'll have this problem again in the future).
